GarageBand

Today I made a sequence on GarageBand for my opening sequence, I chose delicate but intense sounds as I thought it would fit the piece very well but I am going to edit it when I have all my filming completed for my final film. I used Piano sounds and a small drum beat to raise the tension

Re filming

I filmed more on the weekend but I tried uploading my footage and it did not work as the camera was damaged so I am going to go back and re film again one day this week, in the meantime I am going to start getting the hang of using GarageBand

Cast

I chose my friend Jessica Chowdhury to be in my film because I know she is good at drama as she took it for GCSE and A level so she is comfortable in front of the camera and she is quite photogenic so she looked good on camera. She is also quite confident and trustworthy so I knew I could trust her for when I needed to film or if I needed to redo any filming.

Finishing filming

I am planning to film more tomorrow afternoon so I will be able to put the footage onto Final Cut Express so that my editing will be done by Friday.

Sound And Dialogue

I decided I did not want any speech in my opening sequence, however I am going to have one voice over of  a girl screaming to add effect, other than that all of my sound is going to be diagetic

Risk Assessment Group 1

- Filming at the back of someones house which is above a shop
Possible risks involved:

•  Getting in the way of people who work there
• Getting in the way of the neighbours
• Lighting could be bad as it is not in an open area

How could I eliminate these risks?
Keeping everything together and not messing around, getting the filming done quickly so I was not in the way for too long. Filming at a decent time before it gets too dark.

• Weather being bad, rain could ruin the camera and the filming

Plan to film when the weather is good and it is not raining
Have something to cover the camera with

Location

The location of my film sequence was in a dark alley next to a couple of flats. I thought this would make the atmosphere of the sequence quite eerie and mysterious as it is a dull area where there are not many people walking around so also I knew I wouldn't be disturbed whilst filming.

Editing

I decided to come back and redo some of my titles by changing the font, the colour and the size of the text to make the sequence more effective.

I also continued to edit my sequence today and had a go at changing the opacity which makes my title fade out which I think is very effective

Titles

Today I have been putting the titles onto my opening sequence, so far I have done 8 and will be adding a lot more once I have completed my filming

Footage and titles

I have put all the footage I have in order and will be recording more for the next time i need to edit, but for now I am starting to put titles onto my sequence.

Storyboard

I started planning for my film opening sequence. I took photos of my digital storyboard and put them onto Final Cut Express. I then put them order ready to put titles onto each photo.

Editing

Whilst editing my footage I realised I had not done enough filming so i am going to go back and film some more to make my opening sequence slightly longer.

Deciding on a production company

My film would be funded by the BBC just like films such as The Kings Speech, Made In Dagenham and Jane Eyre which are all Dramas which is the same as my film. I decided to name the film 'Out Of Time' because it is a grabbing title and suits the opening scene as it is mysterious

Production company planning

I am now planning what production company I am going to use as my films production company and why, I am going to look at different companies and think about which fits my film opening the most as it is a detective thriller.

Filming

I am now planning to redo my filming on Friday as the quality of my previous footage was not good enough and I want to change some of the filming I did.

Filming

Over the Holiday I recorded some of my film opening and I am now going to carry on filming over the next few days. I am going to be following my storyboard and finishing my filming to upload all of footage to be edited over the next few weeks. The equipment I will be using are a camera and a Tripod.

Digital storyboard

I started my digital storyboard on the last week of term and have now completed it today. I put the pictures that I took in order and edited them to a shorter length and put titles on them.
